Two wine shows in two weeks and it feels like it’s 2019. The first was the Profile Portfolio Tasting, which also marked the agency’s 30th anniversary. It was like old times with a bunch of visiting winemakers, like one of my favourite Sicilians, Dr. Lily Fazio, pictured above. I wrote about it at The Hub here.
The second was a visit by a contingent of the Napa Vintners, which I wrote about at The Hub here. It was fun to see the cream of the crop of Toronto’s sommeliers out to taste wines that are maybe not super cool, but definitely delicious and pricey. It almost made me regret not pursuing a career in investment banking, that I might afford to have more of those wines in my glass.
But, there are lots of very good and tasty wines for less than $30, or even $20 out there. On Turkey Day I will be pouring Thomas Bachelder’s 2021 Villages Gamay. Review here.
